The incoherent mess that is Joe Biden’s foreign policy just took a turn for the worse when he buckled under pressure from anti-Israel elements within the Democratic party. He is now taking his marching orders from The Squad.
In a stunning display of how Biden and his administration are subservient to the most extreme faction of the Democratic party, the nation’s 46th president is walking back his support for Israel’s right to defend its own citizens from terrorists who want to kill them.
Biden’s flip-flop comes after days of angry congressional floor speeches by far-left progressive Dems along with a letter by 28 Senate Democrats demanding a ceasefire. However, it was not signed by Majority Leader Chuck Schumer who could face a primary from Squad leader Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez next year.
In a Monday call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Biden pushed for the leader of a nation under attack to call off the dogs in the campaign to eliminate a dangerous threat to his own citizens.
“The President expressed his support for a ceasefire,” the White House announced in a transcript of the call.
It’s not enough that Biden’s disastrous domestic policies have already put the nation on a course for an economic cataclysm, they are also being influenced by far-left progressive zealots. In much the same way the hate-Israel caucus is now being allowed to dictate foreign policy as well. This is not a good signal to send to our most critical ally in the world’s most volatile region.
The pressure on Biden intensified after Saturday’s airstrike on a high-rise building housing offices of propaganda outlets al Jazeera and the Associated Press in Gaza. The structure was also occupied by the brutal terrorist organization Hamas.
The Israeli government provided the Biden administration with evidence that Hamas was a tenant in the building. According to a report by the Jerusalem Post, “We showed them the smoking gun proving Hamas worked out of that building,” a senior diplomatic source said. “I understand they found the explanation satisfactory.”
Hamas denied the charges in an interview with the far-left website The Intercept; “Hamas did not have any military or intelligence operations in Al-Jalaa Tower,” said Basem Naim, a Hamas official who is the head of the Council on International Relations in Gaza,” according to The Intercept.
Following the strike on the 12-story building, Democrats led by AOC took to Twitter to spew terrorist talking points and to demand action from Biden against Israel.
“This is happening with the support of the United States,” adding “If the Biden admin can’t stand up to an ally, who can it stand up to?” she tweeted.
Fellow Squad member Rashida Tlaib could have been reading directly from Hamas talking points when she tweeted that, “Israel targeting media sources is so the world can’t see Israel’s war crimes led by the apartheid-in-chief Netanyahu,” adding that, “It’s so the world can’t see the killing of babies, children and their parents.”
Whether Biden’s support of a ceasefire will influence Netanyahu who is fighting for his political survival is unknown. However, it is already clear that things are going to be much different when it comes to the “special relationship” than they were under former President Donald J. Trump. One man brought peace to the region, now another has seen it thrown into upheaval through an utter lack of U.S. leadership.
