Donald Trump is issuing an urgent message about President Biden’s plans to stop the Pennsylvania forensic audit from taking place.
“Joe Biden is going to Pennsylvania today in a rush in order to stop the Forensic Audit that the Pennsylvania Republican Senate is in the process of doing,” Trump said in a statement on Tuesday.
“Philadelphia was a cesspool of corruption, which will soon be revealed by the audit. Why are they so concerned that a President, who never goes anywhere, would hop onto beautiful Air Force One and head to Philadelphia if it were an honest election?” he asked.
“Why not let the audit go forward and make everybody, on both sides, happy?” he asked rhetorically.
“The results will be the results,” Trump continued. “But they know it was not an honest election, Philadelphia was one of the most corrupt cities in the Country—and so is Detroit, and so is Milwaukee, and so is Atlanta, and Pittsburgh, and Oakland, and Baltimore. Corruption has gone on for years, but in the 2020 Presidential Election Scam, with the mail-in ballots and the use of Covid to cheat, corruption reached new levels.”
“Remember the poll watchers being thrown out, the windows being sealed so nobody could look in, the ballot drops, and all of the other events that took place that changed so rapidly the Big Trump Win on election night,” he added.
“Joe should say go forward with this, with all of these audits,” Trump went on. “His visit is a joke. He doesn’t need to visit, all he needs to do is let them do an audit and find out what happened. Who knows, maybe they’ll say the election was on the up and up, but many people would be shocked.”
“Let the audit go forward like it is in Arizona, despite 107 Democrat lawyers trying to stop it and failing,” he noted. “Let the Forensic Audit go, Joe. Don’t fight it. Show them how honest it was.”
Biden, of course, is traveling to Pennsylvania to make his case against those he argues are undermining confidence in the 2020 election.
“President Joe Biden will visit Philadelphia on Tuesday to call out those who claim the 2020 election was rigged, and lay out a moral case for voting rights, according to the White House,” local network WFMZ reported.
“Expanding the right to vote. The access to people across the country to vote is going to be a fight of his presidency,” White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said.
“Biden’s trip to Pennsylvania comes as Republicans in several states, like Texas, attempt to reform the voting process,” the report added.
On Wednesday, Pennsylvania State Senator Doug Mastriano announced a “forensic investigation of the 2020 General Election and 2021 Primary” in the Keystone State. The following has been communicated by Mastriano via press release. It is provided in full below.
“A forensic investigation of our election results and processes for the 2020 General Election and the 2021 Primary will go a long way to restore trust in our system. Voting is the fundamental right of all citizens. We should continually look for ways to improve the voting process to ensure every voice is heard,” Mastriano argued.
“Today, as Chair of the Intergovernmental Operations Committee, I issued letters to several counties requesting information and materials needed to conduct a forensic investigation of the 2020 General Election and the 2021 Primary,” he said earlier.
“We have asked these counties to respond by July 31st with a plan to comply,” the statement continued. “The counties represent different geographical regions of Pennsylvania and differing political makeups. Some are Republican while others are Democrat, which means that this will be a balanced investigation.”
“The Intergovernmental Operations Committee is a standing committee of the Pennsylvania State Senate with oversight and investigatory responsibilities regarding activities relating to or conducted between two or more governments or levels of government, including the administration of elections across the Commonwealth,” the statement added. “As set forth in Pennsylvania Senate Rule 14 (d), each standing committee is empowered with the authority to inspect and investigate the books, records, papers, documents, data, operation, and physical plant of any public agency in this Commonwealth, including county boards of elections.”
“This is necessary as millions of Pennsylvanians have serious doubts about the accuracy of the 2020 General Election,” the report noted. “A January poll from Muhlenberg University showed that 40% of Pennsylvania voters are not confident that the results of the 2020 Election accurately reflected how Pennsylvanians voted. Discounting or mocking their concerns is neither an answer nor proper in this constitutional republic.”
“During debate on election reform a couple weeks ago, some of my colleagues regrettably dismissed these poll numbers as an inconvenient truth and went on to assert that the only reason there is distrust in our election process was because of the ‘conspiracy theories and lies’ from those they disagree with politically,” Mastriano’s statement added. “This sort of ad hominen attack does nothing to address the concerns of millions of voters.”
“The case for a forensic investigation of the 2020 general election is evident to any unbiased observer,” he continued. “This was the first election in Pennsylvania with ‘mass’ mail-in voting. In 2020, there were 2.7 million ballots cast by mail and absentee compared to about 263,000 absentee ballots cast in 2016. Many of these ballots were counted at offsite locations with little outside observation or oversight. Furthermore, mail ballots without signature verification were permitted to be counted across the Commonwealth. And, of course, all of this transpired in the midst of Covid-19 where uncertainty and fear impacted the conduct of the election.”
“Additionally, in the weeks leading up to the election, the Department of State repeatedly altered the manner in which Pennsylvania’s election was conducted,” he noted. “Those who voted in person were held to a higher standard than those who mailed in their ballots. Signatures required for mail-in ballots were rendered meaningless as the PA Supreme Court ruled that ballots could not be rejected based on an analysis of the voter’s signature.”
Joe Biden’s personal visit to Pennsylvania ahead of the forensic investigation represents an escalation of the president’s use of the ‘bully pulpit.’ Of course, the optics of the trip make it appear as if the last thing Democrats want is transparency and accountability in U.S. elections. It will be interesting to see if the Pennsylvania Republicans unify in the presence of executive meddling in the state’s legislative affairs.
